It’s no secret Kelly and I both have a love for our home town of Tacoma. We spent some days enjoying the sites and scenes of downtown, the waterfront and Point Defiance Park. This is very a small snapshot of a few delightful gems Tacoma has to offer. Keep visiting for other posts about our special community in the Puget Sound area.
Along the heart of Tacoma’s Dock Street runs the beautiful Foss Waterway. What’s included? One of a kind restaurants, yachts, paddle boarding, kayaking, apartments and condos and the world renown Tacoma Museum of Glass featuring works by Dale Chihuly. Click here for Foss Waterway events calendar.
A short walk over the Chihuly Bridge of Glass and you are on Pacific Avenue downtown. This main thoroughfare boasts the old Union Station (Tacoma Courthouse), the Tacoma Art Museum, the Washington State History Museum, retail shopping, restaurants, pubs and more. Tacoma Link Light Rail runs regularly on Pacific Ave to get you where you need to be with ease. Check here for schedule and where to link up.
University of Washington Tacoma
Yes, there is a UW of Tacoma and it is nestled in the sweet spot of Pacific Avenue. Go DAWGS. Click here to check it out.
Old Tacoma Waterfront
A stroll along the waterfront will nourish the soul and keep you coming back for more. A true hidden gem of the Pacific Northwest. Take in the beautiful views, dining or just simply relaxing. Enjoy a classic deep dish Katie Down’s pizza on the deck. One of our favorite places to visit.
Point Defiance 5 Mile Drive (just a little bit)
Not to be missed is this spectacular drive with hidden hikes and a plethora of scenic picnic areas to take rest. Check out the map and info here.
